AXI strengthens its offering in data, AI and modern applications with Ghent-based OQuila
AXI has acquired Ghent-based data specialist OQuila. The acquisition fits perfectly within AXI’s strategy to expand its offering in data, artificial intelligence, and modern applications. Through AXI, OQuila not only gains access to a broader customer base, but also to complementary IT services, expertise, and an established structure to further scale its business. The three founders of OQuila – Rebekka Van Acker, Frederick Dierickx, and Marijn Catthoor – will remain on board.
Active in Belgium and the Netherlands with 340 employees, AXI is taking over OQuila, a Ghent-based specialist in Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Azure. For AXI, this acquisition is a logical step in strengthening its offering in data, AI, and modern applications on the Microsoft Azure platform. OQuila’s 17 employees will continue working from their office in Otterburcht, Ghent, and will become an important data division within AXI.
“AXI wants to further strengthen its position as a trusted partner for digital transformation,” says Bart Verhelst, Group CEO of AXI. “With OQuila’s expertise, we can strategically expand our data and AI services. This enables us to help customers unlock insights from their data, which is often scattered across different systems. At the same time, we continue to build a multidisciplinary offering to maximally support both medium-sized and large organizations.”
“For OQuila, this is an exciting next step,” says Rebekka Van Acker, Managing Partner at OQuila. “This acquisition allows us to accelerate our growth and gain access to projects where our solutions can really make a difference. At the same time, we retain our identity and continue doing what we do best: helping our customers make their data accessible and actionable.”

The 17 OQuila specialists will become a key data division within AXI.
