Bebat chooses full support and builds further on a hybrid cloud foundation.
Since moving to the hybrid cloud in 2022, Bebat has continued to evolve. Today, the organization relies on AXI for a high-performing private cloud environment, scalable IT, and complete support for its small IT team.
Bebat collects used batteries and ensures they get a second life through sorting and recycling. As an environmental organization with a strong international reputation, Bebat is fully committed to sustainability and innovation. That ambition is also reflected in its IT approach: scalable, secure, and future-ready. From his role as Digital Services Manager, Laurenz Kuijpers coordinates all IT change projects within the organization.
The need: consolidation and management
In 2022, Bebat migrated its entire IT environment to a hybrid cloud, with AXI as its partner. The goal: move away from end-of-life on-premises infrastructure while strengthening business continuity. In the next phase, Laurenz and his team aimed to rationalize the new environment: consolidating servers, phasing out redundant virtual machines, and gradually evolving toward a simpler and more manageable landscape. In addition, Bebat was looking for a partner that could deliver not only hosting but also project management, support, and strategic thinking.
The solution: hybrid cloud with top service
AXI supported Bebat in further optimizing its cloud environment. A major rationalization exercise led to the shutdown of around twenty servers, significantly simplifying the server environment. New servers were only added where necessary, such as for business intelligence and camera monitoring. The latter runs on-premises, but is fully monitored and backed up by AXI.
Most workloads now run in AXI's private cloud, with additional resources in Azure. In the long term, Bebat also wants to bring that public cloud component under AXI management, so that it has a single point of contact for the entire infrastructure.
“Whether a server runs in Azure or in an AXI data center, what counts is the service that surrounds it,” says Laurenz Kuijpers. “In the AXI Cloud, we already get 24/7 monitoring, backup, and support. That gives us the stability and reliability we need.”
Why AXI?
The choice for AXI was based on trust, expertise, and approach. Bebat appreciates the combination of technical know-how and pragmatic project approach. AXI actively contributes ideas about infrastructure and the digital workplace, and provides monthly reporting via a service delivery manager. Support requests are followed up quickly and correctly. For larger-scale projects, such as the network adjustment during the move to a new building, AXI also provided project management, which took a huge weight off Bebat's shoulders.

Bebat and AXI: stronger together
Bebat sees AXI as a strategic partner that both thinks along and executes. The support goes beyond technical hosting: AXI helps determine the right balance between private, public, and on-premises workloads, and provides expertise that is difficult to scale internally.
“It’s a conscious choice for us to keep our IT team small. That only works if you can rely on a partner who truly takes the load off,” says Laurenz Kuijpers. “When we moved to our new building, for example, AXI took on the role of project manager and coordinated directly with electricians and technical teams. That gave us peace of mind and confidence.”
According to Laurenz, AXI proves every day that they not only excel technically, but also understand what true peace of mind means in practice.
